  1. You can't get non stop flights. they would all need to re fuel somewhere. There is a huge amount of airlines some go via America many go via one of the asian Countries. You can have a choice of a stop over for a night or 2 or just wait for them to re fuel . Ask your travel agent what is on special at the moment Emirates goes via Dubai and often have a special fare. There is 3 seasons for Flying High ,low and Shoulder season. Obviously low season is cheaper.

  2. You can get direct flights from London. They stopover for refuelling for 1-2 hours at Hongkong or Singapore. It takes between 20-24 hours. Melbourne is a great place you will love it

  3. Everyone else has good answers. If you search Zuji.com you can select direct flights in the search criteria. Same goes with most airlines. Shop around, some might only stop for an hour, other may stop for 10hrs.

  4. Best bet is to check with whichever airline you plan to fly with.  They will tell you what their normal route to Australia is.

It's a long flight, so any break in between is good.  On the way home from London we stopped in Bangkok for a few days, just to break it up a bit and do some shopping.
