  1. OK, so it sounds like you would like to save your cash for the tables and get there quick. Although the train would give you great views, it's a long time. Plus, if you know the right airline to fly in Europe, it is usually cheaper than the train. Go to Easyjet.com and check it out. Don't expect a lot of frills, but if you pay a little extra, you can board the plane first and pick the front row or exit seats for a first class flight. (Oh, there is no firs class.)

  2. As a general rule I prefer the train over the plane because it goes from city center to city center and you don't have to get a shuttle or bus to get from the airport to the city, which is far less hassle.

On long distances like this, on certain dates you may get a cheaper deal on a flight than a train, especially if you are under 26, otherwise the train is usually cheaper. This site has the best flight deals (choose Nice as a destination, not Marseille).

The flight is 1 hour 30 but total travel time from Paris to Monte Carlo is 4 to 5 hours including transfers and check-in time.

By train, a round trip Paris-Nice-Paris will cost you 85 € to 180 € depending on travel dates and how early you book. Between Nice and Monte Carlo you have trains every 5 to 10 minutes for around 3 € each way (no reservation needed).

Total travel time from Paris train station to Monte Carlo train station: 6 to 7 hours.

I suspect the best deals may only be only available through the French language page though: http://www.voyages-sncf.com/leisure/fr/l...

  3. It all depends on 2 things  : your budget and the time you have to travel.

If you decide to travel by plane from Paris to MC, you will arrive at Nice airport, then you can either take a taxi, a helicopter or a coach to Monaco - 1hr to get from Paris to Nice then it will depend on what you decide to use....I would suggest the chopper, not that expensive and you get to catch the scenary. More info on the Air France website.

If you travel by train from Paris to MC, you will leave from Gare de Lyon train station, you might have to change at Marseille before arriving at the MC station - all this will take about 6/7 hours becoz the fast trains only run up to Marseille - price will depend on day of departure, etc .Check out the "SNCF" (French railways) website for further details

  4. I am going from Paris to Marseilles. The high speed train is way too expensive. Renting a car would take too long and would probably be too expensive. I am going to fly. You can get flights really cheap to Marseilles from Paris. Then rent a car or take a bus the rest of the way.

  5. I'd say your best bet would be to take the TGV. It's fairly inexpensive and quick. Just a couple hours train ride and you can catch it easily in Paris. You would travel from Paris to Monaco and then take a taxi or bus to Monte Carlo from Monaco, which should be pretty simple. Have fun and good luck!!
