Question:

Going from Toronto Pearson Intl. Airport to Ryerson University?

Hello, this is going to be my first visit to Toronto. I'll be landing at the Pearson Intl. Airport at 9 pm. I need to go to Ryerson University. (M5B 2K3) Is it dark in Toronto at 9 pm? Does public transportation still work?

What are my transportation possibilities? Or is taking a taxi my best option?

Thanks.

  1. Yes it is dark by 9 p.m. but not very dark in the summer...the sun is usually just setting around that time then.  I would suggest you check out grey coach bus schedules since you could probably get a bus from the airport and take it right to the terminal downdown on Elizabeth street which is within walking distance to Ryerson University.  Talk to a rep from the bus line instead of booking on the internet and ask them how you get to Ryerson from the downtown station (it is only about a 10 minute walk from there).  Taking a cab will cost a small fortune from the airport to Ryerson.

  2. Your best bet, as others have mentioned, is to take the Airport Express bus from Pearson to downtown. The stop at the Delta Chelsea Inn puts you a block away from the Ryerson campus. You can buy tickets and check schedules for the bus at: http://www.torontoairportexpress.com/

It will be dark by 9pm, but that's not considered late by Toronto standards and people will still be up and about. Public transportation runs all night in Toronto (albeit after 1:30am, the subway shuts down and only certain bus routes and streetcars are still operational). But at 9pm, you should have no problem using public transportation if you need to.

Alternatively, you can take the TTC (Toronto's public transit system) from the airport, but this takes longer than the airport shuttle and is not as direct.

  3. There is an airport bus that drops off about a 4min walk from ryerson.  Its the Delta Chelsea stop, ryerson is basically on the otherside of yonge.

its dark then, but TTC goes til around 1:45 and theres ALWAYS a million people around there.  That area is a good area (i live right there) yuo would be fine.
