  1. I wish it were just a fad!  The Pope, Bush, and Pat Robertson jumping on the bandwagon would kill any fad instantly!  No, you're witnessing the birth of a new religion.  Religions linger long after they've been replaced with fact.  In the heart of the next Ice Age, there will be men preaching CO2 produced by evil men is somehow responsible for the return of the glaciers.

  2. It is

  3. For some it is indeed a fad, & for others it is indeed the real deal. Some that are caught in the trend will fade away in time while others will come to see the intrinsic merit of the movement.

  4. You are wrong and ignorant!

  5. www.regroupower.ca they seem pretty serious!!

  6. Well environmentalism or conservation if you prefer,  has been around in the USA since the early 1900's.  It has gone in and out of fashion many times since.  This is the second time in my lifetime it has been fashionable to have an interest in life larger in scope than merely ones purse.

Environmentalism takes the long view of the economy, rather than being like the people who look no further than this months balance sheet.  It is important not just that we get a good crop from the land this year but also that the generations that follow will be able to do the same.  You can think in terms of fishing, forestry, or anything, but the principle is the same.  Otherwise, economic concepts like banks,  interest rates, taxes and tariffs begin to work against you rather than for you.  More important, things that have always been here are placed at grave risk.  Many generations have been able to fish the oceans for sport or food, but that is close to being a thing of the past.  In the USA for thousands of years potable water was abundantly available from one coast to the other.  That is almost a thing of the past.  Many things that are disappearing are beyond our power to restore or replace.  If we don't consider the value of these things as we use them we will wake up one day paying high taxes, high fuel prices, high food prices, and living a life of reduced expectations.

Oprah and Al have used their fame and fortune for something that benefits others.  If that has awakened a sense of social responsibility in some I see that as much better than the mindless greed that has dominated our culture for the last two decades.

  7. going green stupid.

  8. I feel like going green is the solution to the problem, until I read things like this posted by ignorant idiots, and realize that every effort that anyone makes, including myself, is wasted because of people who think that trying to help preserve the environment is "just a fad".  even if the "hype" does fade in a few years, don't you think that the problems that we face on this planet will still be around?!?!
