  1. Get your B.S. Degree. Once you do you can apply to go to OCS, and once there, upon Graduation you are commissioned as a 2nd Lt.

  2. You can complete college than join as a direct commission.  Make sure your talking to an officer accession recruiter.

If you have a long way to go in the education - enlist and use the education programs to get the degree than an appointment.

  3. If you like more manual work go enlisted. If you want higher pay and more manager type positions go through Officer Candidate School. I am in the same boat. I got my BS, 2 years ago, and need to get in shape to apply, but after that I am going to talk to some recruitors about it. I heard a lot of rumors about having to speak to Gold Star Recruitors versus just a normal enlisted recruitor. They are a big harder to find, they are more of the managers to each of the recruiting office.

I would love to know why you want to join, if you don't mind sending me a message.

    Good luck.

  4. Ask an officer recruiter about OCS.  Once you finish your degree you will go through OCS and then be commissioned as an ENS.

If you are early in your college career (2 years or less), look into ROTC.  If accepted, the Navy will pay for the rest of your schooling and you will be commissioned as an ENS upon graduation.

  5. in order to be competitive, you need a 3.5 or Better in a hard science, to include a year of Calc and Calc based Physics.

then you must seek out an OFFICER recruiter( Navy uses different recruiters for Enlisted) and apply for a commission.  you cannot just join as an Officer.

Officers do NOT get bonuses and they do NOT qualify for the Student Loan repayment program.

  6. Go as an officer.  It will give you better management experience.  Also be sure and find out how best to get the specialty field assignment you want.
