  1. When I went I had to drink 250 ml and it tasted like McDonalds orange pop.

  2. It really doesn't taste that bad, it is very sweet.

  3. I wouldn't know. I have opted not to take the test. I don't think there is anything natural about your body trying to digest and process that extreme amount of sugar.

  4. EEWW That is so the worst part of pregnancy LOL. It taste like orange kool aide with a bag of sugar dumped in. You may like it but it makes me wanna vomit even thinking about it! After you drink it you wait an hr then they draw blood.

  5. just try to not focus on it

  6. You are not going to like this.  I had to take that d**n test twice cuz the first came out "inconclusive".  To this day I can't drink anything Orange flavored.  If its the diabetes test you are asking about, you can't eat anything from midnight the night before forward.  You go in and drink about half a cup of stuff that tastes like flat Orange soda.  Its not that bad, really.  But, than they take a blood sample every hour for like, four or five hours.  Its been 14 years since I had my son, so I can't remember exactly.  But its at least 4 times.  Good luck.  Hope its not diabetes and hope you only have to take it once. And congratulations on the baby!

  7. They normally give you a bottle the size of a little "chubby soda" to drink. You have to drink it all...it's not gross depending on the one you get and if it's warm or not. Yes they will also have to draw your blood, it varies on your doctors practice as to whether they'll draw your blood before and after.  It also depends on whether this is your first Glucose test or second.

  8. Of course, this was years ago, but I remember drinking a cup of sweet stuff (not too bad) about the size of a small soft drink at a fast food place.

The bad part was that I did have gestational diabetes, which I learned after the blood test.

So, yucky or not, get in there and get checked!!  Congrats on new baby on the way  :)

  9. I drank the full bottle of orange stuff.  It takes like really bubbly, slightly sweeter orange soda.  It's not gross, but it's not the best stuff in the world.  And yes, it is a blood test- twice.  I think they draw it once before, and once an hour after you drink the liquid sugar stuff.

  10. It is not as bad as everyone makes it seem. It tastes like Sprite without any carbination. you only have to drink about a half cup. Don't worry about it. You will be fine!

  11. No its not bad you but never forget it. It tastes like an orange soda. but a little sweeter. Trust me you will always remember it when you drink an orange soda. They make you drink the whole thing.  but its just a small bottle.

  12. Its actually really good. Its just like Orange pop. You have to drink about the equivalent of a can of pop, but you get like 15 minutes to drink it in. Then you have to sit for an hour and they test your blood. really quite painless!

  13. Drink it all. It kind of tastes like an overly sweet and flat Fanta orange soda. You have to drink it all in 15 min- and then wait an hour for a blood test. Have nothing to eat or drink after you drink it. It is really not all that bad...unless you hate sweet.

(my doctor's office gave it to me when I scheduled the blood test and I held on to it for a month in my fridge. And hour before my appointment I drank it down.)

  14. depends on if you are taking the 1hr or the 3hr you have to drink 16 oz bottle it is nasty. but you need it. gl

  15. Well, I thought it was NASTY. I've done it 4 times, now, and I've had the orange drink, and the one that they 'say' is cola flavored... They're both bad, and, since I have hypoglycemia, I almost faint, after I drink it, too.

  16. I was worried about this a few weeks ago when i went. What happens is you go in take a tube of blood from you. Then they give you the drink (it really is not that bad, I had to fast for my test so by the time they gave it to me i was so hungry and thirsty i did not care as long as it was cold lol) and you drink it in ten minutes. then you have to sit for an hour (you cant get up and move around alot) and then they call you back and take another tube of blood, and then your done. I was worried about how that drink was going to taste too but I had the lemon-lime and it tasted like a slightly sweeter 7-up. It was not bad at all.

  17. You have to drink all of it. Yes, it's horrible. And yes, they'll take your blood like diabetics do, with a pinprick on your finger.

**mind you the colonoscopy stuff tastes 100,000 times worse!

  18. It's about 6 oz of really, really sweet liquid, comparable to flat soda.  It's honestly not that bad.  And yes, it is a blood test.  I've also read recently that 75% of women who take the 1 hour glucose screen fail, and have to go back for the 3 hour.  Don't be nervous if that happens.  It happened to me, yet my 3 hour came back perfect.  Good luck!

  19. you have to drink one glass its not that much it has 50mg of glucose in it and it is super good it taste like orange pop i actually craved it a few days my test... and yes its a blood test but you only have to have your blood drawn once you just drink the stuff wait an hour have your blood drawn and your done...

  20. It is like orange soda but even more sugary. You have to wait there for 1 hour then they draw 1 vial of blood. Try to eat right after as you may be sick from all the sugar. Good luck!

  21. It is a blood test and I don't know what drink you have. I had to drink 220ml of original lucozade 1 hour before I got tested. No food/drink restrictions. Problem being I hate lucozade!

Check with your nurse/midwife as everyone has different requirements for some reason.

  22. I had to drink the entire bottle, which I think is 16 ounces.  The orange is just sickeningly sweet.  The fruit punch wasn't too bad.  Bleck!!  Just thinking about them right now makes me gag.  Anyway, you drink the stuff, then after a certain amount of time (there are different tests your doctor can do) they will draw your blood.

  23. its like 6-8 oz. they one i drank was orange. i liked it! lol i thought it was yummy.. then they make you wait an hour then draw a few tubes of blood.. very easy procedure... bring a book.

  24. The amount you have to drink somewhat depends on your weight, and it wasn't as gross as I was making it out to be.  I had to drink the clear stuff with my first pregnancy and it was pretty nasty, but they gave me the orange stuff this time and it wasn't nearly as bad.  I believe I had 2 minutes to drink it all before they started the 1 hour wait.  They might take blood before you drink it, they only took a urine specimen beforehand when I went. They will take blood afterwards for sure though.

There was another girl there at the same time as me and she had to drink 2x as much as I did....I weighed about 120lbs at the time and she weighed over 250lbs. I would assume you drink more if you're a heavier person to get an accurate result of how quickly your body digests the sugar.
