Hey guys, I am 24 yrs old, been in the fire service since I was 18 (volunteer, then career, been around it my entire life, bunch of family firemen, a few cops), have a fire science degree, a bunch of certifications, and 2 years career in my department. Well I did a few ride alongs with my best friend who's a Police Officer.. and ever since then I was thinking about making a career change to a Police Officer. Never had experience in that field, but of course do have public safety experience. I put in a few applications to PDs around the state (Florida).

Is this a good idea?? Will the transition be a difficult one? Also, having NO experience in law enforcement, will that hurt my chances??

  1. It should not hurt and the A/C vehicle and lighter uniform will be a welcome change especially down here in Florida.

  2. I'd think that you'd have to go to the police acadamey to start with before you could even become a cop? dunno if your interested in it you'd better check into it first.

  3. Most police departments that I know of investigate arson - you would do fine.
