So I am not a Contracted cadet-------currently------but after I pass the AFOQT And got to basic I will be 'contracted'

Now, as I am going into Electronic Engineering- what are my chances of being deployed on the Front Lines of combat?

I understand that I probably will be deployed......but like if i somehow got sent to the front lines ------i guess it will be too late to change my mind about service to country----I mean do I sign a contract that basically says I will serve my country even if it means coming back in a Pine Box?

  1. You should be aware of the consequences when you sign that dotted line and join the military. You are serving your nation. You can die overseas in an urban combat zone in Iraq, you could die falling out of a C-130 without a working parachute.

Granted, you won't be in either of those situations unless you are part of AFSOC. But seriously, you can die in training but the chances are you are more likely to die in a car accident...especially since you're going to be sitting in an air conditioned building more than likely as opposed to your Army and Marine brethren humping 80 lbs. of equipment up a mountain in Afghanistan hunting for al-Qaeda.

  2. Air Force? Very slim. While my husbands been there they have had two to three AF guys with them at a time and three teams have come and gone home while the hubby's still there. So numbers wise there aren't as many AF present and the ones that are there aren't there for very long.

  3. I don't think you have to worry.  I never heard of Air Force being sent to the Front Lines.  That area is usually reserved for the Army and Marines.
