  1. the only thing for me that took a lot of getting used to was the people. we had 5 schools merging for a total of 1,200 kids altogether going to be freshmen.

in my school, the upperclassmen were actually really nice to the freshmen. we were on a school trip with fbla and they were all talking to us saying how lucky we were getting in as a freshman and stuff. they were super nice. you just have to stay on their good side.

there is absolutely no reason to be nervous.

    tips:

    1) always smile- smiling shows you're friendly and you're open to people for conversation. smile at people and teachers.

    2) dress to impress- don't change your style for the first day of school or throughout the year. wear something a little nicer for the first day, but that's it.

    3) have good posture- don't walk in a room slouched over. sit up straight in your seat and walk standing upright.

    4) have confidence- if you get the chance to stand up and talk about yourself the first day in a room, do it right. get up and smile and look people in the eyes, even if you don't know them. it will show you're friendly. you could practice this at home before you start school.

    5) smell nice- spray a hint of a cute perfume on yourself before each class. =)

    6) act comfortable, even if you're not- this one's hard, but you have to do it. don't go up and talk and keep saying "uh" and such.

    7) be kind- if you see someone who is lost or needs help, help them. that's how you make friends.

    8) be active in school- me and my locker partner became close because of fbla. i met so many upperclassmen and such being in a club. sports are also really good because you will find people with comon interest.

    9) go to orientation- if your school has an orientation, then go. mine did and i know it put my mind at ease that i was able to walk around the school and see where classes and places were before school started.

good luck, and if you have any questions about anything... feel free to e-mail me... it's in my profile!

  2. yea some upper classman can be mean sometimes mostly the spohmores. ima be a spohmore this coming year. but just try having fun your freshmen year nd try meeting lots of people even guys . good luck !

  3. It is very different but its better

Some upper classmen are mean, but schools don't allow "bullying". It only lasts the first semester. At assemblies, the upper classmen shout freshmen suck, but thats it.

You have a lot more responsibility, your working for your future, getting good grade to go to college.

You loose really good friends, but you make new great ones

    There's more drama.

More pressure to do drugs and smoke and drink.

  4. You'll be surprised how similar to middle school it is.

You get more freedom etc. The worst thing is the requirements for the classes, midterms, and end of the year exams.

Depending on the group of people you hang out with you wont have to worry about drama and drugs.

You'll have to learn who to stay away from. Some kids at my school likes to throw food. I learned to stay away from them. Most upper class men are nice, they only thing they'll do is call you freshies. It's what I do. I know what it is like to go to a new school, so besides that, I'm as nice as possible to them.

High school is nothing to worry about. I was surprised how cool it was. I love school now lol

  5. for me, my 9th grade year was about the same as my 8th grade year....

    but i'm a Pre-IB honors kid...

the upperclasspeople are generally nice to us at my school.

or they ignore us (fresh-people), but thats at my school.

  6. I'm sick of all you scared little future freshman asking this.

IT WILL BE TOTALLY FREAKY! ALL YOUR FRIENDS WLL DESERT YOU! UPPERCLASSMAN AND SOPHOMORES HATE YOU! AND SO DO TEACHERS! YOU WONT MAKE ANY SPORTS AND GUYS WON'T LOOK AT YOU TWICE!

    just wanted to help.

  7. some upper classmen make fun of the freshmen

if you're hott, a lot of the upperclassmen dudes will like you

there is a lot more homework

    a lot more drama

people who you knew in 8th grade will change dramatically

  8. the first week it gonna be sooooooooo overwhelming but  after that week your gonna get use to it and know where everything is and it won't be a big deal. been there too.

  9. im gointa HS next year as well, and acording to mi sistter the people pretty much ignore you and hang out with their friends. its better than middle school. no one bugs you -=]

  10. You just need to be yourself and everything will be fine.  I'm a Senior this year and I can remember what is was like being a freshmen.  It's not as bad as you might think.  It is different from middle school but only because classes are spaced further apart and homework is a little more challenging.  There are some upperclassmen that like to mess with freshmen, but only because they don't have much confidence and aren't familiar with the school.  As long as you don't try too hard to act like you're older you'll do fine.  I myself have a problem with freshmen that try to be all tough and brag nonstop about drinking and doing drugs, but the freshmen that just be themselves I have no problem with.  At my school the teachers aren't so fond of freshmen either, mainly because they slack off and act dumb in class.  So just remeber to be yourself, and try to stay away from the fake kids that will just get you into trouble.  If you apply yourself everything will be fine and before you know it you'll be graduating.

  11. highschool is very diff from middle school

    people are somewhat more mature.

people are in more serious relationships

no the upperclass man are not mean to the freshman.unless your mean to them or p**s them off.

just relax and have fun also dont ask upperclassman where your classes are they will tell u the wrong way to go.

    good luck :)
