We are two females wanting to do a cheap desert trek- 1 day on a camel, but would like to stay in the heart of desert (maybe mezouga) for a little while longer not necessarily on a trek:

What town will get us furthest into the desert by bus, train or cheap mode of transport? Also from there any more transport suggestions would be appreciated, We are in fes at the moment

Pre thanks to all,

Louise and arnica

  2. I have been to Merzouga is a lovely desert. You could get a flight to Ourzazte or go on a tour there are plenty of tour buses going out to the desert. I saw some people on a tour bus there. I think it was with Thomas cook or Thompson's. You should definitely check out Ourzazate, it's amazing you can see the film studios where they recorded loads of films. I went on a 2 hour trek into the desert and then camped out for the night, woke up at 5am to watch the sunset it was amazing and then headed back on the camels for breakfast at the hotel. For more info email me!

  3. From Fez, drive South to Erfoud (1 day). From Erfoud, continue South 14 km (11 miles) to Rissani, carry on through the village and follow the road South-East 40 km (24 miles) to Merzouga.

    have a good time.
