How should I taper off the medication to reduce side effects. I've only been taking for two weeks.

  1. Two weeks?  Why such a short time?  Anyway you could probably quit cold turkey, feel a little weird for a week or 2, then be fine.

Just out of curiosity, why such a short course?  Unfortunately, they don't work at all for the majority of patients--and even for the really lucky ones, they sure as heck don't work THAT well! :)

  2. I would suggest you talk to your Dr. before stopping the medication.

2 weeks is not enough to benefit from the drug, or to see what kind of reaction you may have.  You may need to try a different one; not every person is the same and not every drug is the same.

If you're going off it because you see it as a sign of weakness, please reconsider.  Depression is a bio-chemical imbalance, the same as Diabetes is.  It's not a defect and you're not crazy.

If you've been dealing with stress for a long period of time, you may have used up all your Serotonin.  A brief helping hand of an anti-depressant may be required.  Again; it's not weakness, it's not craziness; it's a bio-chemical health condition.

If you need it, you need it, just like a Diabetic needs insulin.

    Please reconsider.
