Its on Royal Carribean and there is one "formal night." Do you think a nice shirt and tie would be o.k. for a man?

  1. I have been on many cruises and a good deal of them have been on Royal Caribbean and so I say this.  First the formal nights are REQUESTED attire and not a required.  So Yes, the shirt and tie will be fine, with or without a jacket.  The minimum standard of dress requested for after 6:00 PM each day is sports or resort casual and that's simple the type of clothes you would expect a person to wear in a business office, or wear to church (slacks and shirt with a collar).

You will not be denied access to the main dining room or any other activities if you are not formal or dressed up, as long as you are at least sports/resort casual.  Many people, including me, change from formal back to casual clothes after dinner and the pictures are taken. And there are always people walking around the ship in casual all evening because there are two dinner seating and some go early and others late.

That's my experience with formal nights.

  2. which one are you going on? My husband and I are going on a three day cruise that leaves on Friday feb 29. =) Thanks for asking this question I was wondering the same thing.

  3. I just returned from a Royal Caribbean cruise last week.  Most people will be wearing a suit or sport coat and most women are in a dress of some kind (most are in a cocktail dress)....but you will see exceptions.  I was actually a little annoyed because we went to a lot of trouble to make sure my husband had a suit (we forgot his tie and thought we wouldnt get in without it).  It turned out there were people who were not in suits etc dining on formal night,

If you want to feel like you blend, try a cocktail dress for the lady and a suit or jacket for the man.

  4. That would be good! Nice shirt and tie! U r going to have so much fun! TRUST ME!!! The staff r so nice to everyone, they treat u like ur famous or somthing!! Have fun!

  5. yes

  6. Yes, a nice shirt and tie will do.  Be advised though -many guys will have on jackets.-just through dinner.

Almost no one wears the jacket after dinner...in the night clubs, or walking around...even on formal night.

Its just for pictures...they take a lot of pictures.

You will be allowed in...but most guys...in my experience will have on a jacket
