I am going on a cruise on the Royal Caribbean International(RCI) ship Mariner of the Seas for the second time (1st time to Eastern Caribbean, this time Western) and I am sooo excited! But this time I want to spend more time exploring the ship because last time I basically stayed in the pool. I think I missed out on a lot doing that! I know they have a lot to offer but what do the experienced people suggest for teens onboard, because we will be doing shore excursions.

  1. Since you have cruised before on this particular ship, you are already familiar with its basic layout, and know that every staircase has a ship map.

That said, and to answer your question, I would just suggest that you start each day during breakfast reviewing the tiny pocket-sized map available at the purser's desk and pick something to explore on each level of the ship every day.

Eat in different restaurants, and try new things on the menu every day.

Since you'll be participating in excursions while in port, just make your plan to do something new and different all the time and to limit your pool time to not interfere with your explorations.

You can even ask someone at the Purser's desk if there are any tours of the ship (however limited they might be). Often times they conduct kitchen/galley tours and less frequently, the engine room. It's pretty fantastic, actually!

  2. I am going on my 4th cruise this summer. I went on Mariner of the Seas a couple of summers ago to the Eastern Caribbean. You should definately explor the Royal Promenade. If you didn't do that, you missed out on a lot. Also, you should probably go to the teen club. That is really cool. Just go to every possible place on the ship. It is an amazing ship.

  3. I went on the Mariner to the Western Caribbean last Dec.  I do like that ship and it has some great things to do.  The things that you can do in addition to the pool would be use the basketball court and shoot a few hoops; try the roller blading track; play the mini-golf; go ice skating (its mid ship on deck 3); try the rock climbing wall; play table tennis; go play some games in the video arcade; hang out in Adventure Ocean and meet some other teens, and maybe go to the Fuel Disco; and go to the promenade mall and have some free pizza.

Go explore the ship when you first get on.

  4. I can't help with your question.  But I will be on that ship with you!!  Leaves June 29 from Port Canaveral and goes to Haiti, Jamaica, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel, right?   Yay, I am so excited!!!! :o)

I am sure there will be lots to do and that you'll have a blast.  :o)
