  1. CURRENTLY:

U.S. citizens need to present either (a) a passport, passport card (available in spring 2008), or WHTI-compliant document; or (b) a government-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license, along with proof of citizenship.

You MUST have proof of citizenship to get into the Bahamas so you must have either (a) a valid passport, (b) a government issued birth certificate with a RAISED SEAL or (c) a government issued photo I.D.

    a certificate of naturalization

I really don't know how you can try to get in without one. Maybe try to get a rush on a passport.

  2. You don't have a pass port?  Is there any reason you had to send away for your birth certificate?  Why can't you go to the court house of the county you were born and get one right away?  You might be able to make a phone call and have them put a rush on your birth certificate...for an extra fee of course.

  3. You will need your birth certificate if you dont have a passport. I travelled recently by cruise to the Bahamas with just my BC and it was the first thing they checked along with my ID. I dont know when your leaving, but you should probably apply for an expedited passport if you can. If not, you should be able to get a copy of your BC right there at the registrars office if you go and apply in person. They have to see proof of the country you were BORN in not where you can drive or practice nursing. Good Luck
