Going on a cruise ship to Bermuda. How do I smuggle my own liquor onto the ship?

Do they open your luggage when it's in holding and poke through it? I'm not flying to the port, so I don't have to deal with the airlines, just worried about what would happen if they found liquor in the suitcase? or if they even look for it at all.

  1. Depends on the cruise line you are going.

Sometimes they let it pass, sometimes they dont, sometimes it´s random...

In some lines you CAN buy at the duty free onboard for immediate take, sometimes only on the last day of the cruise, sometimes only literally leaving the ship.

But also, in the major Carnival, Costa, Royal, Celebrity... the crew can buy one liter a week, so ask your cabin steward to get you one, if its 20 bucks, give him 25 or so. They do it all the time. He gets 5 bucks + the crew discount (20%)...

I was gift shop manager on ships, when passengers wanted to buy and could not thats what they did.

It´s all about revenue, so they dont want the gift shop (which is a concession) competing with the bars.

Also, if they do spot it on your luggage, it´s not the end of the world, like some people said... they just hold it till the end.

  2. I WOULDN'T SMUGGLE ANYTHING IF IT WERE ME. WHY RISK THOSE STIFF PENALTIES  OF JAILS FINES AND SUCH AS IT WERE MAYBE EVEN LOTS OF DAYS BEHIND BARS BEFORE A PHONE TO A FAMILY MEMBER TO  BE MADE. I WOULD NOT WANT TO  RISK IT MYSELF.JUST GO HAVE SOME FUN AND FORGET THE BOOZE OF ANYKIND.

  3. I have just returned from a princess cruise where I packed wine in my luggage. The Luggage and the wine arrived safely to my cabin. Friends and family have also packed rum , rye in their luggage with no problems ( Princess and Royal )

  4. LOL My sister in law did this too....she put the booze in a mouthwash bottle!!

    worked for her!

  5. Is it really worth the risk of getting caught? If you have to have the liquor on your way to Bermuda, then buy it on the ship store, DON'T buy it at the bars or from the waiters/waitresses...VERY, VERY expensive! But do buy it at the liquor/smoke store on the ship. You can buy alcohol from the Bermudas, just make sure what your limits are before buying them, or you'll lose whatever you bought over the limit.

  6. Your luggage will get x-rayed and they will confiscate any alcohol.  I have been able to take some water bottles in my cases in the past and have been able to put my vodka in it and that has worked for me.  However now that most airlines and I imagine cruise lines are banning any liquids then you may not be able to get away with this anymore.  Good luck.
