Going on a group trip to mardi gras traveling by amtrack train any tips regarding the train ride?

Leaving on the 1st of feb arriving in new orleans on the 2nd any suggestions

bring plenty of snacks and things to do.  Bring a camera, batteries and lots of film.  Other than that, enjoy yourselves.

You didn't say where you are starting from but as an avid AMTRAK rider I suggest bringing the following:

1. Full sized pillow

2. Full sized blanket

3. Small flashlight

4. Road Atlas

5. Sunglasses

6. Book

7. Camera

      The diner food is excellent and the scenery is spectacular. Enjoy the ride and don't forget your Glock 40. This is New Orleans remember.
