  1. Ok I was TERRIFIED of flying for the longest time but I followed some advice from a retired pilot that helps me. For starters planes just don't fall out of the sky I know this logic doesn't mean anything to you when your heart is racing but always keep that in  mind. When you're seated on the plane start silently chanting this, "The plane isn't going to make it off the runway." Why? Well let's face it, if it doesn't then you've "prepared" yourself and you won't be disappointed. Keep changing up the mantra as the flight proceeds like "We're not going to make it through this turbulence."

Also, grabbing on the arm rests for dear life isn't going to help either. The plane will function just fine without your help :D There are also places on your wrist that if you apply pressure and rub them while breathing deeply (while trying not to hyperventilate) it should help you relax. I would also stare out the window during take off. I know this sounds crazy but for me it helps if I know EXACTLY what the plane is doing ect.

To be honest you'll just have to find what works for you to make the even less traumatic. I hope I've given you some sort of help and try to relax. Also tell the flight attendant that you're a bit nervous and he or she will definately help you out in any way. Good luck dear!

P.S. Think of turbulence as bumps in a road. It's just pockets of air. No big deal :D

  2. well if your going to crash, and they tell you to put ur head between your legs, DONT.  they just say that cuz when the plane hits the ground youll hit ur head on the seat in front of you and theres high impact so itll break ur neck. they WANT that to happen so theres no law suits. haha pretty sneaky...

probably didnt help ur situation but i thought id tell ya

  3. Close your eyes. Bring your music player. Read a book! Close the windows! It feels like nothing! Stop thinking about it.

  4. Ask your doctor for some pills which will put you to sleep when the plane takes off and lands. Move around the plane and stop thinking that it's a plane. It should help.
