  1. I lived in Germany for two years and have traveled there other times.  I don't remember there being very many visa requirements, unless you plan on staying there a while.  It would help if there were more details on what requirements you're nervous about.


  2. US citizens in possession of a valid US passport do not need a visa for airport transit, tourist or business trips (for stays up to 90 days). The passport must not expire before the end of the scheduled trip. I was there this summer only needed my passport. Going back this spring! You can check out this site to see if you need a visa.
