  1. Take it from me, I have worked on P&O, Princess, Carnival & Holland America (even Airtours when they had ships).

Bar prices onboard are usually steep in order to make some onboard revenue.  This is why many cruise packages nowadays are as cheap as they are, the idea is to get you onboard quite cheaply and then they can make money onboard with the bars, shops and Casino and various other things.

Of course, you have to bear in mind that all of your food is integrated into the price of the cruise and like anywhere else that does this you will be expected to pay more for your drinks.  If you didn't have to pay higher rates for drinks, you would probably be paying the additional money for your food.

  2. not been on her,but been on oceana a few times, the drinks are about the same price in a normal pub,and you will be astounded how quick your tab goes up.what we tend to do,is take a pull on case with you with a few bottles of your favourite tipple. then at ports of call we usually get a few more bottles, sounds tight i know,.......but its sound advice im giving you.

  3. Did 2 cruises on her in 2006 and can't wait for October when we are sailing to the Caribbean.

We usually had a pre dinner drink in Tiffanys--prices about the same as a UK pub so cheaper than a 4 star hotel.

In cabin special--litres of Beefeater Gin,Teachers Whisky,Smirnoff Vodka and Bacardi at Duty Free prices.

We also take a couple of wine boxes for the cabin.

We think the Artemis is such good value(basic cabins are all outside ,with bath and bigger than those in the rest of the fleet.) so we don't mind spending our ''On Board Credit'' in the bars!

  4. i was on ocean village last Feb,I'm also going in a few days time, you'd be very surprised they are the same as in a pub,i was impressed, the cocktails for ladies also ranged from £1.99 to £3.50 depending on what alcohol was in,iv paid more than that in my local bar .
