  1. Gratuities are added to your onboard bill, though you can change them either higher or lower, if you feel service was better/worse than expected.

Alcohol, sodas, spa services and shore excursions are all extra. You can buy a soda card which will give you unlimited sodas for the length of the cruise. If you plan to drink a reasonable amount of soda, these are a good deal and should be purchased as soon as you board, before you buy any sodas. Purchase at any bar.

Internet service is extra. You can buy minutes in bulk to save money.

Anything you purchase in the gift shops is obviously extra as well. Same is true for photos.

If you think you will have any special requests for your cabin steward, such as always keep the ice-bucket full, give them an extra $10 as soon as you meet them after boarding. That extra tip goes a long way toward better service.

You can sometimes find shore excursions through third party services. Usually these are as good if not better tours than offered through the ship, and generally cheaper. Ask your travel agent for advice.

  2. Booze, soda, bottled water and you cannot bring any on board if they find them they will toss them
