Question:

Going on cruise with I-751 extension letter?

My husband and I are traveling on a cruise next week. His conditional greencard expired in December and we are awaiting the new one. We do have an extension letter, and he's traveled out of the country by airplane with it without a problem. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with traveling by cruise ship with the extension letter? Any problems or positive experiences? I am suddenly nervous about it. Thank you.

  1. Hi Shannon,

I am in the same situation as your husband, and was also planning to go on a cruise at the end of the year, but was hesitant regarding the letter. Technically, there should not be any problems with the letter. It is very common for renewal of Green Card to take longer than the 90 days (time he must have applied before his card expired). I would personally check with the cruise organizer. I am sure they've come across many of those. Good Luck!
