We're sailing from Miami, FL on 8/11 for a 5 day cruise to the Bahamas (Nassau and Half Moon Cay) then we go to Grand Turks.

I've never been to either of these destinations and this will be our first Cruise. My Husband and I are in our early thirties and we want any of the following:

Suggestions for "Land Excursions"

Descriptions of the ship...likes/dislikes

Food, drinks, prices

Service

Room Size (We're staying in an Ocean View on the Main Deck)

Amenaties

Formal Night/ Captian's Cocktail Ball

etc!

Anything relevant is appreciated!!!!!

  1. We have rented cars, motorcycles, gone jet skiing, the best Marqueritas can be found at Senor Frogs.... It depends on what you like I had the best time in the clubs in Nassau.  Just asked where they are while your shopping the locals will tell you.  I agreed with the previous statement about the ship.  Its great with lots to do on the ship while you're at sea.

  2. as far as shore excursions go, just pick what sounds fun to you, but be sure to buy them online BEFORE you go b/c they will be more expensive on the ship and may be sold out.

all food and drinks are free except for pop and alcohol. service is always great. and you can get room service anytime of the day for free. you can also get wake up calls to your room which is nice because there are no clocks anywhere on the ship, so bring a watch.

rooms are kind of small but it usually doesn't matter b/c you don't end up spending much time in it since there is so much to do.

don't bother bringing shampoo, body wash, razors, or hair driers because all of it is provided for you.

formal night is fun, and you can wear anything from slacks and a blouse to a formal gown, it just depends on how dressed up you want to get.

the captain's cocktail ball is for returning guests so if you've never sailed carnival before you won't be allowed to attend. if you have then expect free alcohol and canapes.

ALSO, if you've never sailed out of miami BEWARE! the baggage handlers there threaten to lose your bags if you don't tip them. we complained to carnival but they have no authority over them.

be sure to take advantage of the art auctions. even if you don't intend to buy anything, they give you free champagne if you sign up for an auction card.

and lastly, get insurance on your trip b/c it looks like you'll be going during hurricane season and it would suck to have your cruise cancelled and be out all that money.

    have fun! hope this helped

i forgot to add that i have been on imagination and i liked it. it was nice and relatively small. the larger ships are too big in my opinion. i particularly enjoyed the shakespear library, it's very pretty. also, there are safes in every room incase you want to keep money or valuables safe. it has been five years since i went so i can't remember too many details about the ship itself.
