  1. it may be ok if you have some live plants

  2. what I do is I put a slow release feeding block(Nutrafin has a couple) in there and then do a water change with my gravel vac to get the remainder out when I return...

  3. you can buy an automatic fish feeder for about $12 at walmart

  4. its best to get some1 you trust to stop bye to feed your fish you can get a holiday block but danios dont like this much well mine dont hope this helps

  5. do not use the feeding blocks they pollute the water and cause problems.  if you have been feeding them twice a day until you leave they will be fine until you get back.

most fish can go a week without eating.

  6. It would be best just to not worry about it.  Feed them the day you leave and they'll be okay.

Most adult fish can get by fine for a week or more without food.

Most fish sitters don't know much about caring or feeding fish, and end up feeding too much.  This can create problems in the water chemistry to the extent that it could kill your fish.

This can also happen with an automatic feeder if you're not careful.

I've let my fish go for 2 weeks with no problems.

  7.   Healthy adult fish can go for two weeks without eating, a week is no problem.  Fasting for a week or two is often used in preparation of inducing some species to breed, have a read; http://www.aquarticles.com/articles/bree...

Do not use feeding blocks, they have a nasty reputation for polluting the tank, and you are not around to deal with it.  Auto feeders will often plug, then dump a few days worth of food in at once, causing the same situation as the blocks.

Rotting food creates ammonia, ammonia is an irritant at low levels, toxic at higher levels.  The weaker fish die first, creating more ammonia as they decay.  You come home to a nasty situation.
