Me and my mom are planning on going to Puerto Rico this summer. What are some good vacation spots, fun places to go, good hotels, ect. I was wanting to go on Hotwire.com, Expedia.com, ect. to see about how much it would cost, but we don't even know WHERE in Puerto Rico we want to go... haha. So anyone have any suggestions?

  1. It depends on what you want to do, of course. There are mountains and rainforests and beaches and gambling so it depends.

First timers soak up the sun and enjoy bebidas in San Juan.

Go straight to the hotel website before Hotwire, etc.

  2. Go to tripadvisor.com   and type in Puerto Rico.  They'll give a ton of unbiased information. It's not a website that is trying to 'sell' you. This is a website for people to comment on the places they have visited. You get unbiased comments from people that have been there and are NOT trying to sell you.

Then go purchase your package wherever you normally would. However if I can I offer some advice... I would always use a travel agent as opposed to one of the discount priced sites. The travel agents can usually get the same rates at better prices and better accommodations. I know for a fact that when you book through a discount line... you get the crappiest room on the property. Behind the kitchen, over looking the parking lot or over the laundry room, next to the ice room. That is standard practice... they give you the rooms they are otherwise unable to sell.  If that's okay with you and you just want a place to lay your head... then that's fine. But if you want to enjoy yourself... use a travel agent.  They can help you if your flight gets cancelled or your room is given away to someone else or you miss a flight....  try getting hold of a REAL person at Orbitz or Priceline or Expedia.
