Question:

Going out in Pasadena CA?

I am the best man in a wedding in Pasadena; I am from Columbus Ohio, and need info on places to go out, like bars restaurants. We are staying near the Rose Bowl. I would prefer an area, or a street, so we can park and bar hop. LA is unreal and none of the groomsmen are form LA, we really don’t want to drive around all night looking for a nice place. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  1. Well, if you are staying near the Rose Bowl, you're still going to need to take the car down to Old Town Pasadena (it's a district that stretches along Colorado Blvd. from Pasadena Ave. to a little bit east of Los Robles Ave.) I would recommend parking at Paseo Colorado. It's a shoping mall on the eastern end of Old Town. Parking is max $6, but cheaper with validation. It's also close to the stuff you want to be close to.

    Bars I recommend:

    ===============

    The Yard House. It's in Paseo Colorado. The food is great, and the draught beer select is even better!

    Crown City Brewery. It's on Del Mar and Fair Oaks. It's like The Yard House, only more mom&pop.

    My *favorite* dive in Old Town is the English pub known as  Lucky Baldwin's. It's on Raymond between Colorado Blvd and Green Street. AMAZING and incomparable beer selection here. Do not attempt Lucky Baldwin's if you are a Bud Light, Coors or any other macrobrew drinker.

    If you're looking for something more relaxed and refined, Vertical Wine Bistro has an EXCELLENT wine bar. It's on Raymond at Walnut.

    Restaurants:

    ==========

    Brenart. On Raymond ave and Union Ave. I'm plugging this 'cause it's new and it's owned and operated by a friend of mine, and i'm hellbent on his success. He used to be a chef at STK. It's French bistro with a tinge of Asian influence. Gotta try the rib eye!

    Porto Alegre. It's all you can eat Brazilian churrascaria. All the grilled meat you can fit into your gut. It's also in Paseo.

    Gyu Kaku. It's Korean/Japanese BBQ. You grill meat right at your table while doing soju shots. Good times. Just don't wear your best clothes, as they will come out smellingl ike BBQ. It's on Green Street.

    Fred's Mexican Cafe. It's on Colorado Blvd at Arroyo Parkway. Frat party Mexican food. I plug it 'cause my neighbors are servers there.

    King Taco. This is REAL Mexican food, but very sanitary. It's cheap eats, great for after some heavy drinking. Excellent tacos (I'd recommend the al pastor). On Arroyo Parkway at Union.

    Il Fornaio: Nice Italian restaurant. On Union.

    Buca di Beppo: More homestyle the Il Fornaio. Excellent if you have a large group of people because the food is family style and in HUGE portions. It's on Green Street at Delacey.

    Hooters. 'cause you said you were groomsmen. This is tame fun for guys. It's on Colorado Blvd just west of Arroyo Parkway.

  2. omg you've GOT to go to THE YARDHOUSE, it's soo happening there weekend's at night. Full bar and restaurant, plasma TV's showing Sports. Really fun. It's at the Paseo in So. Pasadena.
