Last time I forgot to order my salad without cheese, so I ate it and felt gross...but does anyone have any suggestions about what I can eat when I go out with my friends? Mind you I'm a teenager so it's not like we're going anywhere high-class...

  1. go to a buffet and get salad bar, or even regular buffet and eat veggies and pasta

  2. veggies, pasta, some places even have veggie burgers now, and you can always tell them to take the salad back and explain you are vegan.

  3. every here and there, there is vegan resteraunts if you look in the phone book, but u could always go the classic way and order no cheese on the salad.

  4. I found these sites really useful.

    Vegan options at restaurant chains:

    http://www.vegcooking.com/ChainRestauran...

Vegan options at fast food chains:

    http://www.vegcooking.com/VegFastFood.as...

  5. Next time send it bad..dont be a cowardly vegan and end up feeling guilty in the end.

  6. Well it's pretty hard considering that a lot of restaurants have meat in almost all of their dishes, and because half of the waiters/ waitresses don't even know what veganism is. But it isn't impossible. I found that a lot of foreign restaurants have tons of vegan food, but if your friends are anything like mine, they probably won't want to go out to a foreign restaurant.

So I guess the best thing to do is to either eat before you go, or get picky and have your server personalize a dish for you (absolutely nothing wrong with doing this). Also ask your friends if they will respect your wishes and choose places that have a larger variety of food for everyone (not just omnivores). Lol so Burger King and Outback Steak House are no-goes. And I've found that a lot of Mexican restaurants are NOT vegan (at least where I live).

  7. i reccomend either tofu, veggie burgers, or pack some vegan food in your purse/pocket and just order a drink and snack on that

  8. Try sticking to Asian resturaunts. THats what I do, they always have steamed vegetables over rice, tofu dishes, and vegetable soups. Your always safe when you go to an Asian resturaunt.

SPanish resturaunts are safe for the most part.  Just order it w/o the cheese, sour cream, and meat and you can still have a good vegan meal with the chips and dip or bean burrito w/ rice.

  9. Most places will do a jacket/baked potato with salad or beans.

Or pasta with  tomato sauce(ask if the pasta has egg in it first)

Maybe some places would cook rice with steamed veggies.

Some pizza bases are vegan, so with lots of tomatoes and veggies.

A lot of indian meals are also vegan, and some chinese! :)

It is always best to check ingredients first!

It is always worth asking if they can do you a vegan meal, some are more than helpful!  But is it quite difficult to find vegan meals in everyday eating places!
