What is the best way to fish for pike in freshwater this time of year from a boat? What to use, how to use it? Live in Colorado and going out to Tarryall Reservoir where there is apparently pike fishing.

  1. try different colored spoons or rapala lures youll catch some fish

    good luck

  2. Spoons work pretty good but this technique Im going to tell you always works for me.  Try and see if you can catch a bluegill or a sucker minnow (if you can't you should be able to at a bait shop) once you get one keep it on your hook.  Then cast the fish on your hook right back out.  Slowly reel it back in.  The fish on your hook should still be alive and will flop around in the water. If there are pike in the water they will go right after it.  Good Luck man

  3. troll and you a large frenzy crank yellow orange and green or large spoons.

  4. really large minnows or suckers usually work very well as well as any big minnow imitation lure - jointed usually work best.

Live bait is the best though....

  5. Try a medium/ shallow diving plug with a stripey top and bright belly ( fluorescent)

Otherwise try livebaiting ( if you are permitted ), or dead bait on a drifter float - electric !
