  1. You really should have lessons from the local ski school.

Its also worth a few hours on a dry slope if poss.

  2. lessons are great or ski school

it is a ton of fun and a great way to learn

also, practice, practice, practice what you have learned

    good luck

  3. Absolutely!  Take at least an hour lesson a day (if you're going for several days).  Give yourself an hour before the lesson to play around, but trust me, you need lessons, because they'll explain how skis work and what you need to do to enjoy skiing.

If not you might have a frustrating experience and not enjoy skiing.  It will definitely be worth the money.

  4. You might want to get a lesson in before hitting the slopes, it will make you feel more comforable and make for a better day on the slopes.

  5. No way! Don't get lessons. Don't even ask the guy in the ski shop how to use the bindings. Wear a LOT of cotton clothing and NEVER wear a hat or gloves...you don't need them!

Go down the trails with the Black Diamonds FIRST. They are the best.

    Have a GREAT time!

Where and when are you going skiing? I'll call the Ski Patrol ahead of time to let them know to look out for you.

  6. YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

You must absolutely get lessons, at least the first couple of days.  I GUARANTEE you that your entire future life on skis will be better for it.

And, don't take "lessons" from a friend who says, "sure I can teach ya" - cause not all skiers make good instructors.

A trained instructor will first of all, make speed up the learning process, and teach you the right way from the get go.  A lot of skiers spend a life time trying to fix bad habits they picked up as beginners.  The instructor will also provide information about skier safety and etiquette, who to ask for help in an emergency and teach you how to get on and off the chairlift without looking like a clown.  They'll also talk to you about equipment should you be interested in buying your own skis.  He/she will probably also make learning to ski a who lot more fun and enjoyable together with the group, rather than lonely and frustrating out there on the bunny slope alone.

Take a lesson, or even better, take a week of lessons.  For the reason above, and so many more I don't even have time to list.  You WILL enjoy it!

    Have fun!
