I've been skiing for about 9 years, like almost my whole life. This weekend I'm going up-north this and me and my friends are gonna learn how to snowboard any tips or helpful hints?

P.S. were taking lessons the first day :]

THANK YOU!!

  1. Just have fun =)

  2. Lessons are a good start for beginners. Just remember it is all about balance. Keep your arms extended, but bent at the same time. In skiing you lean to the sides and use your poles to turn. In snowboarding its exactly the opposite. Also make sure to use your upper body and hips to turn. Good luck. Snowboarding sure is fun.

  3. You are on the right track, you are getting lessons and have skied, so my only advice is wear what you would skiing and Have fun!

  4. you are going to fall a lot! don't get mad... also, to carve... swing your back foot out, hard. You'll understand what I mean when you get on a board.

  5. like i said don't fall

  6. DONT GIVE UP! go at least 3 times before you convert back

  7. The most important thing about snowboarding is putting your weight on your front foot. It's also just about the hardest thing to do when you start out because your natural tendency is to lean back. Your weight has to be on your front foot to be able to use your back foot to turn and carve. Don't get stuck in the falling leaf routine (where you ride your back edge back and forth all the way down the hill). That is a bad crutch and in the long run will prevent you from progressing as much as if you learn how to carve (switching from back edge to front edge with the same foot forward all the time). Don't put too much pressure on deciding whether you are goofy or regular stance because after you have been snowboarding for a while, you will want to be able to ride both ways. Be sure to go at least several days before you decide if you like it. The first day is by far the hardest but it gets SO much easier after that. Good luck.

  8. Don't have s*x on a snowboard...it can be painful...and you might slide down the hill during the process...
