Can any thai friends give some updates and advice on the current situation there? Tickets and hotel already booked so i'm really hoping that me n my gf will be able to enjoy ourselves there instead of canceling the whole trip.

Questions that i'll like to ask:

1) Is it dangerous on the streets IF i'm able to get in to Bangkok?

2) Is the situation there really THAT bad as related on the news?

3) Do you guys tink tat the situation will ease by this weekend?

4) Should i cancel the trip or just go ahead to visit your beautiful city?

Thanks in advance for any answers given..! Hope that everything will be ok by the end of the week *keeping my fingers crossed* =(

  1. I would say go if your only going to fly into Bangkok and not another flight after that.

Trains may be down a little but roads will be OK, and yes they are protests but they are concentrated in the government buildings where you wouldn't normally go for tourism. Going to Grand Palace and Wat Po best go by boat from Saphan Taksin skytrain station to Central Pier

  2. Please find my reply below.

    1) Is it dangerous on the streets IF i'm able to get in to Bangkok?

ANS: It might a bit worried but not too dangerous if you will go by the place that is protesting. The government emphasize speaking that will not clear off this problem by any force. If you need to go by the major extraction such Grand palace, National Museum or shopping in downtown such MBK, Pratunam or Siam Square that's fine. I'm sure you will be safe. To me, the situation on BKK is not too worried like the circumstance in southern part of Thailand.

    2) Is the situation there really THAT bad as related on the news?

ANS: I think, It's not that bad. The news always has 2 sides.

    3) Do you guys tink tat the situation will ease by this weekend?

ANS: I believe the circumstance will being at least 2-3 days.

    4) Should i cancel the trip or just go ahead to visit your beautiful city?

ANS: Please go ahead if you need to come. Just avoid the place that the protesters are. you can ask your hotel here the update situation when you be here.

As the represent of Thai peoples, I don't need foreign countries afraid of this and needed everyone still thinking Thailand is the land of smile.

  3. 1. Not dangerous at all.

2.The situations calm, with controlled peaceful demos. The police over react every now and then, (same the world over).

3.Who knows. Just avoid the demos.

4.Do not even think of canceling. Everything possible is done to safeguard tourism and the tourist.

  4. pegasus 1551 you should learn to read the story you posted.  only one person was killed according to the website you listed.  one killed have been reported in a least three newspapers here.

  5. 3 killed in protests today... the above answers are obviously WRONG.

  6. It is safe - just stay away from large crowds and government buildings

  7. It's safe to visit Thailand and never been dangerous.  However due to the protest all train service has stopped.  Airports are open but the protest group said it may close them down again including new information this morning that they may include the Bangkok Airports.  So unless something changes in the next few days, I would cancel my trip until another time.

  8. Under the current circumstances I'd reschedule your trip if it is not too inconvenient to do so. I too was planning to visit this month, but I've decided to wait until the situation is a little more calm.

You aren't likely to be in harms way, but if you are travelling about Thailand you might experience inconveniences by train or plane or even automobile. You might have a more enjoyable trip if you wait a few weeks until the situation resolves itself.

I just pulled the following article (link below), looks like unfortunately as of Tuesday morning (Thai time) things turned a little more violent.

  9. totally safe.....just be sure to wear a condom!
