I am going to stay at someone's so I won't have to spend alot on meals either. But I'll def. be eating lots of snacks (fries, waffles, etc.). However, we might drive (save on transportation too) to paris, or switzerland too so I need to include spending for those day trips as well.

I was thinking maybe 90 to 100 Euros per day...but I'm not sure if that will be enough..

and I won't be carrying a credit card, only a debit.. so I'll only have that much.

  1. The train to Paris is fast and easy, and if you book now you can get a return for less than 100 euros. Fries and waffles are cheap (2 euros each). Beer is cheap (and good). I'd say 100 euros per day is easily enough, unless you really do want to hire a car (bear in mind petrol is insanely expensive here right now). How much souvenir shopping you intend to do is also a factor. Generally when I travel in Europe I foresee 100 euros per day, including the hostel... so you can get by on less.

  2. I agree with Rachel D but would like to add two things:

if your debit card has maestro, you can get money at any ATM. so there's no need to have a lot of cash on you

distance between brussels and bern is over 650 km or 400 miles - if you want to go to switserland, you should consider spending at least one night because going back and forth in just a day leaves you no time there.

    enjoy your stay

  3. taking the Thalys to Paris in summer can be expensive, over 100 euro. promotions are usually sold out at this time of the year.

i think you should be ok with 90 per day, unless you plan to spend spend spend.
