Going to Boarding school?

I am choosing to go to boarding school for my junior and senior year and was wondering if anybody had any experiences about boarding school and what they thought about it. I'm also looking for a school in the northeast, like Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, etc. So, if you know any, could you possibly reccomend one? Thanks.

  1. boarding school is actually fun!!!!! (if its a co-ed one) you get to be with your friends all the time and best of all eat whatever you want. There are lots of people to mess around with and sometimes, you can even sneak into someones room to have a hangover or sneak in and spy on them. ahahaah best of luck

  2. Not sure with that area, but I went to boarding school and it was the best thing ever, freedom to the extreme, and my roomies were awesome, everyone in my school liked each other, no stupid drama and c**p like that. Seriously boarding school is the best thing to do.

  3. I attended the Culver Academies and had the time of my life- it was challenging and rewarding on many levels. However, these days the tuition (for many schools) is so expensive that I would only commit if you are absolutely certain about attending.

  4. In New Hampshire, I agree that Exeter and St. Paul's are excellent schools, but very tough to get into so late.  In Mass., Deerfield is good, as is Northfield-Mt. Hermon.  Andover has a good reputation, but a friend who went there hated it (they really were awful to her), so I cannot personally recommend it.

The best school for you does depend on your goals, on what (and how) you like to learn.  I would suggest reviewing the websites of any school that interests you, and contacting someone at each school to start a dialog about whether their school is right for you.

    Good luck!

  5. Boardingschoolreview.com is your friend.

The top schools in CT are Choate and Hotchkiss, they have very litle room by 11th grade but if you're an excellent student and an athlete, they are great schools and worth a try. NH has St. Paul's and Exeter, truly amazing schools but again, St. Paul's takes maybe two 11th graders and Exeter maybe ten. MA has the two other top schools, Andover and Deerfield.
