Going to Bologna and need suggestion of sites to visit and if a stop in Ferrara is worthwhile.?

  1. Ferrara is worthwhile but if your in Bologna you might as well go to Venice or Trieste.


  2. The most famous monument is The two towers ("le due torri") which are in the town centre. U can go on foot to the top and watch the city from above... wonderful view if the sky is clear but very steep climb!!

    Piazza Maggiore is the main square with the city hall, San Petronio's Church and Pavaglione's Porch. A smaller square departs on one side of Piazza Maggiore where Neptune's statue is, one of city's symbols.

    Probably the nicest site at all is Piazza Santo Stefano, with the so called Seven Churces.

    However many of the streets of the town center are quite ancient and really nice, especially on the eastern side of the city.

    I think you'll find Bologna worth a visit and the most characteristic aspect of the city is probably the presence of porches along most of the streets... so don't worry if it's rainy.

    However have a look at the link below to the city  tourist office.

    P.S. Ferrara is a nice old but quite small. However if u've got a spare afternoon it's worth a quick visit!!
