  1. Hi there and I wish I was you:) I lived in Rio and basically the same things that go for Sao Paulo go for Rio: Don't walk in the dark, don't show your wallet and so on, just show some common sense...Should you go to Rio make sure to visit the Sugar Loaf Mountain and Corcovado and don't miss out on the Lagoa. Copacabana Beach is a must but be aware that the water is not the cleanest...Shopping: Barra Mall about 30 min south of Rio Centre or the Street Market in Rio Centre around the National Library. You should go and see Belo Horizonte and Ouro Preto and don't miss Salvador

    Enjoy

  2. dont get kidnapped

  3. in sept the weather is great! is not too hot! have a safe trip!

  4. Have a great and safe trip....its a wonderful place to visit, no matter where you go, just be careful, there are plenty of little pick pockets.....but its still a great place to visit....enjoy!

  5. My husband and I live in Sao Paulo - I am from UK.  We have travelled quite a bit in Brazil - places i would recommend are Ilha Belha (a beautiful island about 2 hours drive from Sao Paulo), Paraty and Ubatuba.  I would also recommend visiting Igacu Falls which is an experience I will never forget - just check that that there is water in the waterfalls before you go!

  6. Hi David !!!

I am Vanessa and I live in São Paulo, Brasil. I don't know what city are you going to visit here. There are many beautiful cities here. The country side is great. people are nice and very calm. some cities got empty jails !! But if you are coming to Rio de Janeiro or São Paulo ( There are 40 million of people in the State of São Paulo). It is very big. Here is a business city. Many buildings and malls and theaters and restaurants and movies and Art meusiums...It is a cultured city. You have to be careful and don't show street maps out side of the hotel or malls.. be careful when you take the bus.and if you have to answer the cell phone , enter in a store or a restaurant to answer it.. Subways are good (Not everybody speaks English here). Here in São paulo ( people who are born in São Paulo are called Paulistas ) the traffic is intense and hush time is everyhour !!! if you are renting a car, you have to be used with rush times and intense traffic... and very unpolite and neurotic drivers !!!! Learn some basic expressions in Portuguese and carry a dictionary with you ).The spoken language here is Portuguese.  I live here in Brasil for many years...if you becareful, nothing bad will heppened to you.( I mean.. I am talking about thieves). There are I think 20 malls in São paulo. Usually it is safe to be inside of a mall. Just be carefull with a mall called Interlagos mall .( there are many less educated people in this neighborhood, and be careful with your wallet !!).They steal your wallet and you don't even notice ! Go to Iguatemi mall, or Market place mall, morumbi mall and Ibirapuera mall. These are good malls with nice restaurants, bookstores, music stores, movies, Clothes stores..etc I've been to Rio 4 times and never been robbed. You have only to be careful. If you are going to Rio, go to a city called Petropolis. It is very beautiful. There are museums and the home of Santus Dumont ( the man who invented the airplane ).you can vicit there. It is very nice and beautiful. There is also a cristal house. I visited there 10 years ago and never forgot..very nice city. There are nice people and not nice ones everywhere we go... I hope you meet nice ones ! You didn't mention where are you visiting. ..but there are many nice places. There is a city, called Santos, 1 hour by car from São paulo. It is a beach city and very nice with aquariums and fish and big whails museums. there are many beautiful cities here...just be careful with the big ones....
