Going to Byron Bay,fun things to do there good beaches and shopping?

Im going to byron bay on the gold coast and i was wondering if anyones knows any good beaches there and any good shops and dining there and just fun things to do while im there?

Firstly Byron Bay is not on the gold coast, it is 40mins south (actually in another state). The place is so small that it doesn't take long to walk around (about an hour) and see the whole place, so just wander, everything is good there.
