We are leaving next week, and want to know where are the "local" spots to get good deals.

dont expect a beach, we did and there wasnt one there! try the woolpack for cheap backpacker meals also take a trip out onto the barrier reef. just outside of carns there is a cable car ride up the hills that we never went on but looked good
