Question:

Going to Canada?

I want to go to Canda, and have a general question. I was not born in the United States, but my father is a naturalized citizen. My passport and my greencard have both expired recently, so i can't use those. I think my biological father being a citizen makes me a citizen (?), and was wondering if there was any way i could use that to prove my citizenship for crossing the border, via land.

  1. If you are in the states, you can cross over to Canada with only a driver's licence or other photo ID right now. If you are flying, you WILL require a passport.

There is no way to get into Canada without proof of your citizenship and status, even if your father is a Canadian citizen. If that is the case, once you reach Canada you can go with him to a local government office and claim your citizenship by having him and yourself fill out the appropriate forms.

  2. Good luck,I live 20 miles from the Boarder and can tell you that getting into Canada is much easier than getting back into the USA.You need a picture Id and a birth certificate.Your better off waiting till you get your papers in line again, they are very strict.

  3. I'm afraid NOT !  You'll need to renew your documents before travelling.
