Going to Cancun/ Dominican Republic alone??

if i'm traveling alone, which is better? Cancun? or DR?

I would travel to Cancun alone before Dominican Republic. The reason being is if you don't speak Spanish, I think it's hard to be in a country that you can't understand what is being said or what you are saying. English is widely spoken in Cancun. More to do and see also. JMHO.

Just follow the rules where you live when you are out and about. Stay under the radar. Watch what you drink. Don't flash money or jewelry and you will be okay. Watch out for dark, lonely areas. There are crazy people out there like every where.

Cancun has plenty of tourists out and about at night.

My vote is Cancun. Enjoy and have fun)

Cancun is certainly more developed and has more options as far as restaurants, nightlife, "touristy excursiuons", shopping, etc...

In Dominican Republic, I am assuming that you are either looking into Punta Cana or Puerto Plata.  Puerto Plata also has 3 distinct areas where nightlife and shopping are options (Sosua, Cabarete & Puerto Plata proper).  Punta Cana does not have the nightlife option but the beaches are fantastic whereas the beaches is Puerto Plata are not.

Why do you people ask these kinds of questions and then don't supply enough information for anyone to answer it.?

How do I KNOW which is better if you are traveling alone?  are you a young girl or an old man? Have you ever traveled outside the U.S. before or is this your first time?  How much MONEY do you plan to spend?

I've been to both...though not by myself....but regardless of that...Cancun is my pick..

i guess it depends on what kind of a vacation you want...

Dominican is not the type of place you can just hop out of your resort and stroll down the street.

You can do that in Cancun. But not sure if you'd feel safe doing that anyway if you're alone.

Cancun is a lot more commercialized...more shopping..more clubs etc.

Dominican is very behind in all of that. I went with my boyfriend and we were BORED..especially at night.

But like I said..depends on the type of vacation you want

Cancun is definitely the best choice.  The water doesn't get any bluer or more beautiful and the choices for entertainment are hard to beat.  Many things to do here for any age.  You won't regret picking Cancun.  It is safe here alone....been doing it for years.  Come on down.
