Going to Cancun for the holidays wondering about hotels..help!?

Hello all and thank you for visiting!

I am going to Cancun from Dec23rd to Jan2nd. Yeah me! Anyway, I have everything set and hotel too. But I am just curious for those who have been there before, what are the cheapest alternatives. I say that because I am going by myself and I am not too picky. I don't want to sleep in a tent but I don't need to be in a resort either. What kind of alternatives exist for the budget traveller for accomodations? For example, can I find a cheap rate if I wait to get there? I already have reservations but have not fully paid for this place. Ok muchas gracias if ya know!

I'd get as much feedback and check out some of the forums like Trip Advisor. Then have a look at Cheaperthanhotels Cancun, since usually the rates are quite advantageous for the same places :

There's a whole range of discounts available - give it a go and see if you could do better.

try beachdestinations.com that is who we went through our hotel was cheap and had a marina in front of it, so we end up going a quarter mile down and had a beautiful beach.
