There is Karumba - downtown.  A better g*y mexican vacation would be Peurto Vallarta

I cannot say if the clubs are nasty, however the g*y community in Cancun is located in Centro, what is known as Downtown. The clubs that are listed in People's Choice Guide Cancun are:

El Gran Kumbala

KaRaMBa

Picante Bar

Sabor (Ritmo Caribe)

Sabor Latino (Salsa Club)
