Going to Disney in California on AUgust 22nd. Are the kids back in school yet? Will the parks be crowded?

I live in the area, I have been to Disney at various times during the year. I can tell you the Disney resort in Anaheim is crowded no matter when you go, even on rainy days.

School in CA is still out... Though some schools here are so overcrowded that we have "Year round" schedules at some schools.

Your scheduled "Disney Date" will definitely be on a crowded day. Take advantage of the "Fast Pass" whenever you can, and be prepared to wait when you don't have a Fast Pass. Most wait times will be 30-60 minutes. depending on the time of day, and the ride. However, Disney is very good at making even a wait in line, somewhat entertaining. You will often have films to watch which pertain to the ride. And the park is very nice to gaze upon while in line.

The best advice I can give you is- If you have a "must ride"... Then head for it first thing and if it was "That good" grab a fast pass for it once you exit if you want to ride it again. Also, plan to take a lunch/dinner break at an odd hour when restaurants and concessions won't be so crowded.

I live about 5 miles away from Disneyland and have lived here my entire life.  I'm 30 and I have an annual pass to Disneyland and have had passes on and off for the last 17 years so I definitely have the answers for you.  The kids are definitely NOT back in school (a lot of colleges are but college kids aren't the ones you have to worry about).  The majority of kids go back to school the first week of September.  There are a few year-round schools but not enough to make a difference.  I would say that August tends to be the most busiest time.  If you can go either early June or late September you'll still have good weather and it won't be so crowded.  Be prepared to wait at least an hour for all the good rides.  Good luck!

Most schools are back in class around the middle of August. As for the parks it all depends, just cuz the kids are in school doesn't mean there won't be others traveling to Disney around the same time.

But I don't think it'll be to bad. There are more people at Disnay in June, July and Dec. due to holidays and what not.

quiet a few schools in California are year-round. you might try calling the park and asking what it was like the last few years at the time you are planning on going they would be more than happy to help you with any information you may need

If you are asking for the West coast students, the answer would be school still out,  and anyways the Parks will definitely be busy... so packed lots of patience and just try to have the best time of your summer! and make sure you take advantage of Disney's past pass.
