Ok, as I've said, going next Monday (8 September) and after all the hurricanes etc I have been watching out for the weather. I had planned to bring bikinis etc, but now am getting worried as I keep seeing it's raining on the online weather reports.

Please can ANYONE tell me what the weather is like over there right now? I am going to Punta Cana...Juan Dolio, if that helps!!!

I am really looking forward to it, but I dont want the rain!! hahaha

Please help

Thanks

  1. We just got back from DR (Punta Cana) on 8/21.  We checked the weather every day for about a week before leaving home (NJ in the US).  The weather reports said rain every day... well guess what?? They were all wrong!! It was at least 85 and sunny every single day except Friday 8/16 when tropical storm Fay hit the island... and even then, we had a great time.  We didn't realize that it was as big a storm as it was until we got back to the US and saw the news, because lets face it, who watches TV on vacation?  You cannot control the weather, so there is no use worrying what you have no control over.  Make the best of the situation.  The day of the TS Fay was probably one of my favorite days.  We already had about 6 days in the sun, and believe me, our skin was thanking us for the rain.  We went up to the main lobby where the better drinks are served, the animation team handed out games and books... and we basically ate, drank, played board games, met lots of other fun people, and really had a good time.

Bring tons of sun screen, your bathing suits, and most of all bring a good attitude... and have a great vacation!

  2. I am also going to Dominican republic (punta cana) but on the 18th of Sept. The ninth storm called Ike has just hit and it looks like it is on track for dom rep and Haiti. In punta cana the weather forecast has been showing rain for about the last 3 weeks and the next ten days but I dont think that is the case as I was posting questions on Tripadviser.com and people were replying to me actually form dominican republic. There responses were positive saying that when it dose rain it will rain extremely heavy but only for about 20mins a day and every night when you are sleeping (E,G- 2 o'clock in the morning !!) People are also saying that for the short time it rains a day you can just lay in it as it is still very hot. The only problem is if you are in the path of the storm which we prob will be as 4 have hit Dom Rep already.

I dont know where you are from but I am from the U.K and we have a lot of rain over here but never have hurricanes or storms etc..., so the weather is a bother to me. Should we be worried?

Also keep an eye on the hurricanes and storms on the national hurricane center-  http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/

Well hope this helped, as for what to pack im taking all summer stuff. It's not going to be cold even if it does rain, the temp at the mo is 37. HOT!!!!! Cant wait!! have a nice time.

  3. GIRL , YOU GOTTA BE AMERICAN ? AND YOU GOTTA BE JOKIN ?  BRING 5 FIRST AIDE KITS , THE AMERICAN RED CROSS TEAM , THE NATIONAL GUARD , 3 LIFE RAFTS , 2 LIFE JACKETS , 15 UMBRELLAS , GOLASHES , EAR MUFFS , 2 PONCHOS , YOUR ADVENTURE LIVE STRONG BRACELET  , 2 TURTLE DOVES AND A DOMINICAN IN A PALM TREE.

  4. If the U.S. Weather Service doesn't have a clue about where those 3 OTHER HURRICANES ARE GOING AND WHEN... Gustav and Hanna are just the to present ones... there are 2 MORE depressions marching across the Atlantic and another one forming off the West Coast of Africa... anyway... if the EXPERTS don't know and can't tell you... then WHY DO YOU THINK ANYONE ON ANSWERS WOULD KNOW/
