My husband and I are going to Europe at the end of April and the first week of May. We are both 26 and very fun people. I want something fun, and romantic at the same time.

We will be visiting: Italy- Spain- France-Belgium and Greece over 15 days.

I was in Italy for a month last year, but only stayed in Turin (Torino).

I need some suggestions for other places in Italy. I was thinking Capri, Florence and Venice. What do you think?

Also for Greece, I have no idea where to go. Maybe Crete?

Spain, I was thinking Barcelona or Madrid. Which is better?

Belgium I am have planned, I spent 7 days there last year and know that I have to go back to Brugge and do a day trip to Brussels.

France, I just doing Paris for one romantic day and night.

I guess I just need help with Italy, Spain and Greece.

Thanks for all your help!

  1. Venice is romantic and very touristic at the same time, not exactly the place to have fun, since there are not many places to go out at night (everything closes pretty early). I am originally from there: I can tell you it is an expensive place, but if you like arts, history and culture it is the right place to be. Florence and Rome are exciting cities too and they can be easily reached by train. Naples nice too, Sicily great, Sardinia very wild and unspoilt. If you only have a couple of days I would focus on Venice though!

Greece: I lived in Crete for 4 months some years ago and it is the best island I've been to in Greece. It won't be as crowded as it usually is in the summertime if you go there in April and you can find cheap accommodation and fantastic food (probably you can pre-book a package tour before arriving there.) Athens is not as nice as you expect it to be, it is very polluted and there are only few places, which are worth a visit.

Spain: both Barcelona and Madrid are great cities, Barcelona is the best place to have fun, Madrid is great for shopping and visit museums. The south side of Spain is great too: I was in Cadiz and there are great spots on the coast around Gibraltar (look for small villages called Pueblos Blancos - the white villages -), they have great food and whitewashed houses all over the place.

Belgium: only been to Brussels, nice city, great beer, heard that Bruges is nice too, saw a movie about the city recently and it sounds interesting.

France: Paris, but you need to spend longer than 1 day, since there are many things to see.

Good luck with your trip: Europe is a very cool place and we are friendly!

  2. Greece-Athens I don't really know anything about Greece

Spain Barcelona seems like it has more to see

substitute belgium for amsterdam my friend just went there

France-obviously paris is the best destination

  3. Wow, you're going to a lot of places in just 15 days! I just came back from a trip to Greece with my boyfriend in late May. We were there for 5 days and went to Athens, Santorini, and Mykonos. Santorini and Mykonos are both pretty touristy, but they are so beautiful and romantic, I highly recommend them anyway. There's a reason Santorini is so popular for honeymoons! If you want a going out scene and beautiful beaches, go to Mykonos. We had a great time.

You have a while to plan your trip, which is good. You should check out http://www.tripfilms.com to watch travel videos about all the places you're thinking about going to. Videos are great because they show you exactly what to expect, and the videos on Tripfilms are especially good because they are all pretty high-quality and offer great recommendations and tips from locals and travelers. I actually made a bunch of videos about my Greece trip... they're not great (i'm a beginner at film editing), but I think they get the important stuff across!

Hope you have a great trip!
