  1. I LOVE GALICIA!!

What kind of "fun" are you hoping to find there?

Hope you already have your reservations because you'll find QUITE a large crowd of Spanish tourists in that region, attempting to escape the heat of the rest of the country.

Galicia is a region in Spain which few non-Spaniards visit because it's very far away from Barcelona and Madrid.

Galicia is called "Green Spain" and that's just how I found it a few years ago. It's green, hilly/mountainous, water everywhere, rains quite a bit (but probably not as much in August when you're there), and this is the region from which MUCH of Spain's seafood/shellfish comes. Mmmmm.. Gimme squid and octopus any day of the week! Most of it comes from Spain. I was in seafood heaven there. GREAT white wines too.

There are LOTS AND LOTS of small fishing villages but these small, "boring" fishing towns because bursting tourist hubs with all the restaurants full, beaches full, bars full, roads full, and beachside walkways full of people. So BORING it won't be unless you're hoping for something more. You'll immediately note it's Celtic historical roots too.

Galicia is one of Spain's most naturally beautiful regions. I'm not sure how it looks now after last year's devastating fires though.

  2. First, if you bring your camera, no such thing as a "boring fishing town."  You can take photos of the beaches, wildlife, boats, nets, etc.

Second, Galicia is a big region, not a town, so, you could be going anywhere, and there are some nice beach resorts, there.

Santiago de Compostela, the major goal of the longest pilgrimage in Europe is there, near the coast.

Plus, you'll be close to Portugal, so, might take a detour into Portugal...What you can do, what you make of the trip is up to you.

Some of what's available depends on how old and independent you are.  If you're 16, and dependent on a family for transportation, etc., your experience will be a lot different than if you are in university and can travel alone.

    I'm jealous.  Have fun!
