  1. Good hotel rates on www.onevacationclub.com

  2. Germany at Christmas is great, if you are there early, be sure to go to the Weihnachtsmarkts - just about every town has one, and they are great fun.  Really very intensive Christmas.  I'd also consider time in Berlin at that time of year - Berlin is a fascinating city with a lot to see.  Days will be short, but they have great culture, the season will be in full swing, and the museums are fantastic.  Lots of great clubs, too.

Munich is always a lot of fun, they have great museums, too, and such. Englisher Garten won't be so great at that time of year, but it will be a great town to be in.

I always recommend you get to a medieval town - Goslar and Quendlinburg are my favorite - Rothenburg feels a little too produced to me.

If you ski or are into winter sports, visit the alps!  Garmish-Partekirchen is a great place to indulge in skiing or skating or whatever - after all they've had a winter Olympics there!

There are some great, and more mild, places around the Bodensee.  Try to visit those.

The black forest must be lovely in the snow - check it out.

Last but not least, try to make it to one of Germany's baths, maybe Baden-baden.

And make sure that you visit one of the concentration camps left from the n**i era.  Buchenwald, Dachau, Sachsenhausen (do-able as a day trip from Berlin).  It's something every visitor to Germany should visit and experience - to understand what happened, and to oppose genocide worldwide.

  3. Make sure you attend a Weihnachtsmarkt (Christmas market) ... they are fun, quaint, good shopping, and in the chilly winter weather, a Gluehwein (hot spiced wine) will certainly hit the spot!  :)

Otherwise, be sure to get in some good ski trips to the Alps.

  4. Go to Rothenburg it is the Christmas Town of Germany. You will be able to shop until you drop. I have been there at least 8 times during my visits to Germany.

  5. Charles is right Rothenburg is very nice all year around specially at Christmas... And do NOT forget to visit Nurnberg as well... if you get a chance go to heidelberg and Garmisch Paten kirchen as well as Munich and Berlin... :) Have fun!!!

  6. It depends which part of Germany you intend going. I would suggest Bavaria during winter time. I live in the Dusseldorf area

and would propose quite a numerous places nearby.
