Going to Granada, Spain in November. Where should we stay?

We are going to Granada in November for 5 days, and I'm not quite sure if we should stay in the Centre, or the Albaycin district. There are self catering apartments in both places for decent rates. Both areas appear to be basically next to each other, but I would like advice on the best area. Thanks!

The Albaycin is so much nicer and has lots more character than anywhere else. The Albaycin is the spirit of Granada with hilly cobbled streets and great views around most street corners. My favourite thing to do in Granada accomodation-wise is to stay in a Carmen, an old Moorish style house. This is one of my favourites : http://www.hotelcasamorisca.com/

It is really hard not to love Granada so I'm sure you'll have a fantastic time.

Hi, it looks like you got a list of places to stay, so let me advice you on the following. The Albaycin or Moorish District is very beautiful, but in the last couple of years, became dangerous at night. Depending on where your flat or hostal is, it may be a bit dark and unsafe to walk back there at night.

I have been in Granada for about 14 times in the last 9 years and just last year, for the first time I saw a sign put up by locals, warning tourists to watch out at night.

It is a beautiful place to be, eat end all, but my recommendation, stay on the other side of the Plazza Nuevo.

Hostals like the Venecia or Vienna have also flats and else to rent out, and it is so close to the Alhambra and the Albaycin.

Come to Salobrena, it's only an hour by bus from Granada, and you get the sea. It will be warmer in Salobrena too..it's cheaper, and it is a lovely little town.. check out my blog for photos.  www.salobrena.wordpress.com  If you are going to Granada, then you must see the Alhambra..but make sure you book in advance online as it sells out almost daily.  The city of Granada is great..lots of shopping, bars, restaurants, museums, just to walk around is great..

I've been there on Aug.

In your shoes, I would stay in the city center: there you would have more options (pubs, shops, monuments, nightlife,..)

Granada is a small city, and you can reach the Albaycin on foot from the center whenever you want

(the Albaycin disappointed me: nothing special...)
