Going to Ireland.. What to do?

Question

I am going to Dublin, Ireland for 8 days, but my plan is to rent a car and possibly drive and see the country a bit- or possibly a train. What and where in Ireland do you recommend I go, and how easy will it be to get to London, England from Dublin? Thanks!

You can't obviously get a train to London! so boat or plane, so Ryanair is good to go with.

Croke Park, Trinity College, Kilmanen Jail and Kilmanen Castle are brilliant places to see around Ireland.

For the country scenery, I love Donegal. Clare, Galway, Mayo, Sligo etc. have beautiful scenery too.

Tralee in county Kerry, which is in the south of Ireland beside Cork is a very touristy ordinated town.

There is an aquadome swimming pool, which is great, loads of shops, great bars, restaurants and pubs etc.

It's lovely.

Hire a car in Dublin - nationalcarhire - cheapest and drive to Kerry through Limerick and make your way for a couple of days to Waterville Ring of Kerry by far the best land and seascapes in whole of Ireland. Majestic scenery - Skellig Michael 6th century monastic settlement nearby , the list is endless. Highly reccommend this part of Ireland.

Well to answer one of your questions,Dublin is just about over an hours flight from London!!!

Anyway my advice would be to spend half your holiday in Dublin and for the other part drive to South Munster and take in some of the spectacular scenery that only Ireland has to offer!!!

Wicklow Mountains, Mourne Mountains (in Northern Ireland) there is so much scenery here to see - Coast line in Kerry is awesome, Galway is just well - you will not do it all in just 8 days but you will get to see loads.

well dublin is a great city. if you pack it in you can see it in a day or 2. you can take  atrain down the southeast coast and check out the beaches and some small towns. you can go to the southwest and hit up the blarney stone and go into north ireland to see the Giants Causeway.  i would stick with trains and buses. More time to drink and probably cheaper.

In Kerry you must visit Molly Gallivans cottage. Beautiful little tea shop. It has a farm that you can tour. It's all about ireland durring the famine.

Go to Kerry County if you want to the picturesque Irish countryside that's filled with rocks, sheep, and endless green pastures.

There are so many places to see here it would be impossible to list them all. Glendalough in Wicklow is a must as is The Burren in Clare, The Rock of Cashel, Croagh Patrick, Kildare round tower, standing stone at Punchestown, Wolfe Tones Grave At Bodenstown, The Cliffs of Moher, The Achill Islands, Clonmacnoise, National Museum, Trinity College, The G.P.O. are just a drop in the ocean of what to not just see but to experience here, and the Guinness does taste better over here. It is no problem to fly to London or take the ferry and enjoy the drive

Its very easy to get from Dub - Lon.  

Ryanair fly to Gatwick, Luton and Stansted.

I think you'd have to go visit Wicklow for the scenery.  Kilkenny for the castle and the pubs.  Dublin because its where i'm from :)
