I'm from NYC and going to Costa Rica with my best friend, We're staying in a friends home in Coco Beach, we're in our early 30's and looking for recommedations on a activities such as canopy-zip line though the rain forest, Good Casinos, Fine Dining, Quiet Beaches?

Also should we rent a car(8 days) online or when we get there?

Is it safe for two woman to drive around at night?

  1. Rent a 4x4 best way to go in Costa Rica. most streets are a piece of sh*t and where you are planing to go..

  2. The best zip lines are at Borinquen. You take a horse ride up the mountain and zip down starting at 420m! 12 lines and it's amazing! Book Vargas Tours. (manuel is the best tour guide) They are extremely professional and take good care of everyone. I would not recommend driving as the roads are not named and are in a terrible state! have a look at their website and i would also recommend the Monteverde cloud forest tour on suspended bridges, Rincon National Park, and The sailing trips. We stayed just round the corner from coco in the gulf of papagayo. It's so beautiful. Pura Vida!

  3. 1st I want to tell you that you should not be driving around at night....You need to be careful driving around in the daytime being female tourists...Don't just go driving around, either...know where you are going, and let people know where you are going...

Renting a "4x4" is the only way to go..the roads are bad and if you rent a car, you will surely cause damage to it by running into unexpected road damage...4x's are a bit more but worth it...Alamo, at the Hotel Irazu near San Jose Airport is a good rental agency...If you rent at the airport it will cost you 80.00 U.S. more.....

As for zip-lining..the only place I recommend is the San Lorenzo Forest....at Land's In Love Hotel...you can find them on-line and make your reservations!....go in the morning to avoid afternoon winds...they are the best, and have the longest lines anywhere...be prepared for lots of climbing!...

I hope you know Spanish, or at least conversational Spanish..It will help you, if you do..You don't want to stick-out like sore thumbs in Costa Rica....Read up on all the Safety advisories....If you have anymore questions, pick my answer and give me your e-mail address and I'll help you...I am a travel agent and have been here before!....Blessings!...
