  1. there are many websites that you can visit while still in the US that will be very helpful in mapping out a strategy on visiting some of the sites that you have mentioned above.  this site below, realnegril, will be very helpful with some of the places of business and intrests and hotels in and around negril.  as well as a link pages that will be helpful with where to eat and stay and shop in and around negril. this page alone will keep you busy with the links and such to get you pointed in the right direction. as well as a chat room and live video feed where you can log on to and ask away anything you may want to know. i know the guy who runs it (an american his name is rob from ohio, living in negril now) and he is a very nice guy who will give you some answers that are on the money.

as far as you wanting to drive to some of the destinations mentioned above with a starting point of mobay, i would ask you if this is your first visit to JA and if you and your new hubby are the adventursome type. (judging by your alias, i think you are that type) JA can be gotten around by car and i  have been to three of the four mentioned sites you want to visit (yes, YS is worth the trip). but, the driving to the destinations may not be as straight forward as you would wish and places like YS, mayfield, black river, appleton tour (not near negril) are pretty spaced out and there are few road signs, till you get kinda close, telling one where to make a right and left etc., but with a road map and plenty of daylight it will be an adventure.

i think a person can navigate to these sites and have fun doing so in the process, i've done the same thing you are planning to do during my first few visits to JA (day tripping to negril), until i decided that negril is the place i like the best, but those driving daytrips were one of the highlights of my visit!  just don't rush it and give yourself plenty of daylight drive time, don't pick up strangers, and take the time enjoy the view.  you will know where to stop to ask directions to get you where you want to be and grab a bite to eat. just ask along the way, the jamaican people are very helpful and nice and will point you in the right direction while you are on your travels.

as far as finding literature for your sites guide, there is a book that is given by most of the popular hotels and business in and around negril called the 'negril guide' it is a annual fact filled and ad filled travel book for the visiting tourist to negril and the surrounding area. although  i have never seen it in the mobay airport, but ask there, you never know. the book has the year after the title so you will know it is current.  i have them going back to 1996.  i dont believe there is an online verison though.

as far as shopping in negril.  negril does have a pretty good sized duty free shopping plaza located on the beach strip on the land side as will as a plaza located 'downtown' past the roundabout with a supermarket and some duty free shops there as well, and you should find some nice jewerly, cuban cigars, and other fine amenities that tourtist have come to expect when visiting the caribbean.  the siteseeing is well worth the trip and your wanting to see JA first hand and not from behind the walls of an all-inclusive is to be commended for sure.  so, have a great wedding and happy honeymooning in jamaica 'the land of wood and water'!

i will be in negril the same time frame as your visit, mid-june,  if we link up there, the first round of red stripe is on me!
