  1. Safety should not be too much of an issue.  Managua didn't give me a good feeling, but the rest of the country seemed safe enough.  Nicaragua is very anti-drugs, unlike Costa Rica.  If you look a little "too hippy" they may harass you a bit, and you'll likely be searched at the border entering.  Just a head's up.

In general, you will probably find it sleepy and conservative, but not dangerous.  Beautiful country though, Grenada is a gem.

  2. Nicaragua is a great country with so much to see.If you use common sense safety isn't usually an issue. The best advice I can give you is to join the group at Nica Living and start by reading the FAQs.and the information that they have archived. Many of the people in the group currently live, or have lived, in Nicaragua and can answer any question you have...but,make sure you read everything on the site first. They can sometimes be a little short with new people that are too lazy to read the information that is already there first.Hope this helps you.Feel free to email me if you have any questions.I still go to Nicaragua as often as I can.

    Buena suerte con su viaje!
